When Buddhism advises we not get caught up in sensual pleasures it's not the pleasures themselves that's the foundational issue. Rather it's the manner in which people are caught up in these sensual pleasures.
The Teachings describe people being caught up as being tied to, bound to, greedy for, intent on, and infatuated with sensual pleasures.
If one is to walk the Buddhist Path one must practice being free and no longer in the grip of these pursuits.
