Man-Cave Mexican-Style Salad with Avocado Dressing


The Dressing:

1 large avocado, mashed
1/2 cup of sour cream
2 tablespoons of Italian dressing
1 teaspoon of finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon of chili powder
1/4 teaspoon of salt


The Salad:

2 cups of shredded lettuce
2 fresh tomatoes, chopped
2 tablespoons of canned chopped green chilies (Pat the dry before chopping.)
1/4 cup of drained picante sauce
1 cup of grated Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 cup of crushed Doritos

Combine all the ingredients for the dressing and set it aside.

In a large bowl, toss the lettuce, the tomatoes, and the chilies.

To serve, layer in the following order:
1/2 of the lettuce mixture,
1/2 of the dressing,
1/2 of the picante sauce,
1/2 of the cheese,
and 1/2 of the chips.

Repeat the step above layering the remaining ingredients in the same order.


Note: This recipe can be easily changed by adding different ingredients. Try some corn kernels or different cooked beans. Try a different cheese. Add more chilies. Be creative, have fun.
