Zen East - Zen West

In the East, Zen has for a while, been on the decline because of the inroads of materialism and technology and recent wars. In the west, however, it is the disenchantment with the some-called "good life" produced by materialism and technology that is one of the factors in the great interest in Zen. For along with the realization that technology makes important contributions to many minor needs of people is the awareness that we have become cogs in an out-of-control wheel, living by a value system that does not see people as human beings but as consumers of unnecessary things.

As the good thins and the non-good things of Western economics take root in the East, Zen is again begin a slow re-bloom.
