As a competent spiritual physician, the Buddha has identified a disease that afflicts all forms of life, and this is
Dukkha or unsatisfactoriness. He then diagnosed the cause of the unsatisfactoriness to be selfish greed and craving. He discovered that there is a cure for the disease,
Nibbana [Nirvana], the state where all unsatisfactoriness ceases. And the prescription is the Noble Eightfold Path.
