The
Buddha taught we are made up of energies. We decide what to do with
those energies. We have a choice of what we do or do not cultivate,
nourish, and act upon. We choose what seeds to nourish. We realize
liberation when we understand what actions, what words, and what
thoughts will bring unwholesome results. We choose not to perform
those actions, speak those words, or cultivate those thoughts. This
mean we can now nourish the energies, the seeds, that will enable us
to become bodhisattvas. Bodhisattvas are not statues of wood or stone
or metal, painted or leafed with gold that are worshiped.
Bodhisattvas represent living qualities that we aspire to fully
embody.
