The Three Poisons
1...Greed/Desire
2...Hatred/Anger
3...Delusion/Ignorance
The Buddha taught the unwholesome actions (by word, thought, or deed) of people have their roots in one or more of the poisons.
If you examine unwholesome actions you will see this is true. Delusion is almost always there. Delusion can stop you from seeing the other two poisons.
Delusion/Ignorance does not mean stupidity. It means being unaware of Reality.
In Buddhist iconography Greed is represented by the cock, Hatred is represented by the snake, and Ignorance is represented by the pig.
