1 cup of tomato juice
1/2 cup of water
3 tablespoons of flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 cup of cream
2 cups of milk
Place the juice and the water in a saucepan and bring to the boil.
Meanwhile, blend the flour and the salt with the cream. (You may want to add 1 or 2 tablespoons of sugar. Allow your experience guide you.)
Add the milk to the flour and cream and mix well.
Pour the flour mixture into the hot juice, stirring it constantly until it boils and thickens.
This gravy is very good on bread, toast, crackers, fried potatoes, or fried onions.
