A Compassionate Practice

There is a phrase in the Metta Meditation: "May I be free to become my most authentic self."

I know of no other religion or spiritual community that believe that becoming one's most authentic self is a virtue to be hoped for. I don't see the Buddhist Path as a self-help guide but more as a means to practice all of the positive qualities that I see exhibited by the Buddhist community. I see Buddhism as a compassionate practice that unites people all over the world.
