A Conversation Overheard In A Grocery Store Checkout Line

A woman was on her cellphone. She was not speaking English.

A white man was in the line ahead of her. After the woman had finished her call and hung up the man turned to her.

The man said, “I didn't want to say anything while you were on the phone, but you're in America now. You need to speak English.”

The woman responded, “Excuse me?”

The man answered, very slowly, “If you want to speak Mexican, go back to Mexico. In America, we speak English.”

The woman answer, also slowly, “Sir, I was speaking Navajo. If you want to speak English, go back to England.”
