Joy and Sorrow

When a child is born, the mother is in danger; when money is amassed,
    Thieves await their chance.
    What joy, then, cannot become a sorrow?
Because of poverty, we use thrift; because of illness,
    We take care of our health.
    What sorrow, then, cannot become a joy?
Therefore, the man of attainment
    Regards prosperity and reversal as the same,
    And forgets both joy and sorrow.
