Hung Su's Morning Practice


Vandana

Honor to Him,
the Blessed One,
the Worthy One,
the fully Awakened One.


Honoring the Three Jewels

Honor to the Buddha.
Honor to the Dharma.
Honor to the Sangha.


The Three Refuges

I go to the Buddha as my refuge.
I go to the Dharma as my refuge.
I go to the Sangha as my refuge.

For the second time, I go to the Buddha as my refuge.
For the second time, I go to the Dharma as my refuge.
For the second time, I go to the Sangha as my refuge.

For the third time, I go to the Buddha as my refuge.
For the third time, I go to the Dharma as my refuge.
For the third time, I go to the Sangha as my refuge.


The Five Precepts

I undertake the way of training to respect and protect Life. I will refrain from killing or harming living beings.

I undertake the way of training to respect and protect the property of others. I will refrain from taking what is not freely given.

I undertake the way of training to respect and protect personal boundaries. I will refrain from sexual misconduct.

I undertake the way training to respect and protected language. I will refrain fvrom false, harmful, and harsh speech.

I undertake the way of training to respect and protect myself. I will avoid taking anything that causes intoxication and heedlessness.


The Gatha of Atonement

For all evil karma ever committed by me since of old,
on account of my beginningless greed, anger, and ignorance,
born of my body, mouth, and thoughts,
now I atone for them all. (3 times)


The Gatha of Compassion

Vast is the robe of compassion,
a formless field of benefaction,
I wear the Buddha's teachings
for the benefit of all Sentient Beings. (3 times)


The Four Noble Abodes

Loving-Kindness
Compassion
Sympathetic Joy
Equanimity (3 times)


The Mantra of the Heart Sutra

Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone beyond the beyond. Awake. Well said.


The Four Bodhisattva Vows

All beings, one body, I vow to liberate.
Endless blind passions, I vow to uproot.
Dharma gates without number, I vow to penetrate.
The great way of the Buddha, I vow to attain.
