Samadhi

Samadhi: Sanskrit for proper concentration, samadhi refers to the ability to sustain our concentration on the task at hand. Sustained concentration enables us to harness the power necessary to pierce through the fog of ignorance. This feature of samadhi is captured by the phrase "laser-like concentration," commonly known as mental strength. The Buddha taught, "Restraining one's mind in one place, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished." In other words, to succeed in anything, we need to sustain our concentration, without distraction from externals, until the task is complete. One of the most effective methods to develop samadhi power, is by practicing Chan meditation.
