The Mahayana and the Theravada

Artwork by Sumita

The Mahayana path differs from the Theravada in that the Theravada seeks Nirvana while the follower of the Mahayana, the Bodhisattva, seeks Enlightenment.

By attaining Nirvana the Theravada puts an end to passion and rebirth. By attaining Enlightenment the Bodhisattva are able to help in the liberation of themselves and others as well.
