Subhuti Speaks to Shariputra

Dear brother, the diamond being has no interest whatsoever in attaining any state, no matter how exalted, for no conscious state ever comes into being. The bodhisattva is not in search of mystic union or reunion with any level of reality, for no such level ever comes into being. A personal structure which has never come into being cannot attain a spiritual goal which never comes into being—whether with effort or without effort, gradually or instantly.
