Prajnaparamita or Prajna Paramita

Paramita can be translated as "perfection" or "perfect realization."

Prajna can be translated as "wisdom," "insight," or "understanding."

Thus, prajna paramita is the "perfection of wisdom," the "perfection of insight," or the "perfection of understanding."

Prajnaparamita does not refer to intellectual understanding or the scholastic accumulation of facts. Prajnaparamita is, in the words of Thich Naht Nanh: "...the highest kind of understanding, free from knowledge, concepts, ideas, and views."
