The Human Buddha

From the human point of view, then, there are two Buddhas: one, prince Siddhartha Gautama who became the Buddha, and the other, the Buddha principle: impersonal, eternal. We need the human Buddha, who lives as we do, talks as we do, laughs as we do, weeps as we do.

---Eknath Easwaran, in the Introduction to "Essence of the Dhammapada"---
