Chili Sweet Soy
1/2 cup of tamari
3/4 cup of packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons of finely diced onions
2 tablespoons of tomato paste
2 tablespoons of rice vinegar (in a pinch you may substitute distilled white vinegar)
2 tablespoons of grated fresh ginger
1 tablespoon, or to taste, of your favorite red chili sauce (Tabasco or Frank's or Sambal Olek)
Combine the tamari and the brown sugar in a small sauce pan. Place the pan over medium heat and cook for 7 to 10 minutes or until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture thickens.
Remove the sweetened tamari from the heat and allow it to cool.
Once the sweetened tamari is cooled, stir in the remaining ingredients.
Serve this dipping sauce with your favorite grilled foods, egg and Spring rolls.
