Ch'an is that Chinese word (or idea) which the Japanese transliterate as Zen.
I have taken the thoughts of my scholastic friend, student, and teacher, Rich Wolf and toggled a few thoughts on the question, "What is Ch'an?"
Ch'an
is a personal experience of reality without the addition of our own
ideas and opinions. It is a raw, unfiltered experience.
Attempting
to describe the experience, or even to think about it only obscures
it.
And the experience is happening 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is always happening. It is happening now at this moment, in this moment which is all there is.
