Michigan Rocks

1 1/2 cups of brown sugar
3/4 cup of shortening
4 eggs
3 (scant) cups of flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 pound of dates, finely chopped
1 1/2 cups of your favorite nuts, chopped
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/4 teaspoon of salt

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Mix all the ingredients.

Drop the batter by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.

Bake 6 to 8 minutes.
