You Have To Tread The Path Yourself

A true and authentic practice entails being able to stand firmly on your own ground without depending on the support of others. You have to make all the effort yourself. You cannot borrow anyone else's strength. The Buddha may have delivered eighty-thousand discourses; the patriarchs may have repeatedly spoken of "pointing to the mind, seeing the nature and becoming a Buddha"; and other teachers may have given all kinds of advice on how to develop one's practice. Nevertheless all their words can only serve as guidelines to indicate the path. Having entered the path, you have to tread it yourself.
