Michigan Autumn Rice


1 1/4 cups of water
1 1/4 cups of milk
1 cup of long-grain rice
1/2 teaspoon of salt
3 tablespoons of sugar
1 tablespoon of unsalted butter

Mix the water and the milk in a saucepan and bring to the boil.

Stir in the remaining ingredients.

Cover the saucepan tightly. Lower the heat.

Simmer the rice for 20 minutes - do not disturb the lid during this time.

Serve warm.
