Once, the Buddha was walking down a country lane. A man saw him and noticed there was something about him that was different than other people.
The man approached him and asked, "Are you a god?"
"No," the Buddha replied, "I am not a god."
"Are you an angel?" the man asked.
"No, I'm not an angel."
"Are you a saint?"
"No, I'm not a saint."
The man stepped back and asked with a shaking voice, "Are you a spirit?"
"No, I'm not a spirit."
"What are you."
"I'm awake."
