Blind Faith and Blood Sacrifice Are Not Spiritual

The Buddha was the world's first religious leader to admonish against sacrifice, the killing of any living being as a form of spiritual practice. The Buddha appealed to people not to harm any living creature.

To the Buddha, a religion or spiritual practice was not a form of bargaining. It is a way to enlightenment, to awakening.

The Buddha did not want students guided by blind faith. The Buddha taught the best way to discover, understand, and realize Truth is to think freely and wisely; and to harm no thing.
