Understanding, not the fear of punishment, is the reason for looking to the Five Precepts for guidance.
1.....I take the training rule to refrain from killing living creatures.
2.....I take the training rule to refrain from taking what is not given.
3.....I take the training rule to refrain from sexual misconduct.
4.....I take the training rule to refrain from false speech.
5.....I take the training rule to refrain from taking intoxicating drugs and liquor.
